Stereo problems
« on: October 14, 2004, 10:18:06 AM »
Tried to install a new stereo to my '89 'kick and the left speakers aren't working. I disconnected the lefts and now the rights don't work. Is the ground bad?

What's the best way to get to all the stereo wire bundle?

Your best bet is to screw the 16 yr old wiring and install new stuff! It'll be much easier the trying to trace down a bad ground.

The original wiring was intact. I just copied the old radio that was in there.  Guess I'm off to the junkyard for a new wiring harness for my 'kick .  I hope I didn't mess up this head unit with this fooked up wiring.

u dont need a new wiring harness.and u didnt mess up the deck

just run fresh speaker wire to the doors and rear..run a new power to the batt or fuse block..and run a new ground to the body

then either find a 12v switched fuse in the fuse box..or dig around and re use the yellow 12v switched wire from the harness that is already in there

u do NOT need a new harness..just take ur time and do the wiring properly

I've been running the same wiring since 1993.  Still sounds great!  I drove a friend home today from work and he asked if I was running a sub.  When I said no, he was suprised at the qaulity of the sound.

Factory wiring in the kicks BLOWS! Straight up Blows. If you want any sort of sq you need to step up to a nice 16 guage wire.

I heard Pick-n-pull is having a half off anything this weekend - think I'm going to get some spare parts for my 'kick including a wiring harness.

Off topic, what else should I stock up on ? Are there parts people have been finding to replace often? Any requests that I can sell you?   ;)
