Oil Level Rising? Engine will not Start?
« on: July 24, 2008, 09:46:19 AM »
I have a 93 4wd tracker.

My oil level keeps going up? I have been monitoring the antifreeze level and it is not changing, so I assume it has to be gas. I dumped the oil, filled back to the correct level to get me buy until I had time to investigate further. To me the oil smells like oil. It does not have a strong gas smell, to me anyway.

Then the other day I took off for a drive got about 1,000 feet from open and the engine dies and can't get it running again. No spark. This happened about a year ago, fixed it by replacing the igniter. Bought a new igniter, put it in, still will not start. My next step is to check the coil.

Any thoughts? Especially on the oil level rise?

Thank You.

You may have a broken timing belt . If the cam is not turning no spark. remove your cap and see if rotor turns when cranking. If your oil level is going up it is coolant or gas.  The carb float or seat might be bad or if fuel injected a injector is leaking down the fuel pessure when not running.
