Stock jack placement ?
« on: January 18, 2009, 05:37:02 PM »
I know the stock scissor is about useless but where is the stock location for storage of the jack and the lugnut wrench. ?
Thanks,
Raz

On mine the jack is under the passenger seat.  There are a couple of vertical metal pieces to place it between and tighten it down so it doesn't move around.  The wrench is under the driver's seat.  There are clips for the wrench.

Same thing for my 94 tracker.  I swapped out the jack with a Harbor Freight bottle jack in the same place and it des not roll around at all.  Even with wheelin.

I don't seem to have any clips under my driver's seat for the wrench and only have one bracket under the passenger's seat . If anyone gets a chance, can they snap a couple of quick pics to show the wrench and the jack mounted ? I have a small bottle jack that I will put in the tracker instead of the OEm.
Thanks for all the input,
Raz

On a stock vehicle the stock jack will work fine. The 'bracket for the lug wrench was plastic clips that held it to the side of the jack mounting bracket.

In a tracker, the lug nut wrench is under driver's seat - secured by little plastic clips, and jack is under passenger seat. The scissor jack has always worked just fine for me on my 29" tires. I actually PREFER it, because it's more secure under there (partially expand the jack when it's in the "holder" and it will hold itself securely in there), and I've seen what happens to heavy items in a roll-over. Imagine that heavy bottle jack freely flying about in the cabin.
