How much lift?
« on: March 25, 2009, 06:58:35 PM »
I've got a '94 Sidekick with 3'' body lift, and with some cutting I was able to run 31x10.50 all terrains. After installing a rear spool I was able to keep up with all my buddies with Jeeps but was lacking ground clearance.I just bought a set of 33x12.50 TSL's.They look like they will fit after putting them on with a little more cutting and a 1.5'' coil spacer kit.Any suggestions??Which kit is better, one comes with strut spacers and new rear shocks. The other comes with strut spacers and new rear shock brackets.

Um, just curious, but have you thought about gearing?  33" are HUGE for these vehicles.  Most people running 33" have the 3+3 kit with fender trimming.  Thats my $.02

Yeah I've looked at the transfer case reduction kit and figure it's a must.Just don't want to pay $1000.00 for alift kit,it would be cheaper to go with Toyota running gear.

I had a 3" body lift and 1.5" coil spacers and ran 33" tires for about a week. You will hate it. I broke two front difs, and the rear tires would hit up in the wheel wells on everything when wheeling. I also had to smash back the floor boards to get the front wheels to turn all the way. Don't do it.

We've mounted 33's with 5.5"(2" coil spacer lift, 3" box tube body lift) lift and it wasn't that bad. It also had a welded front & reinforced aluminum housing/carrier. Worked very well, and was a daily driver for almost a year till it was sold.

33's can be run however you need to do the Hagen mods detailed in the archives of this site. do the rear axle over rotation and the front widening. These mods will give you the clearance you need to run those tires. With a 94 you will want to upgrade the front axle to a 96 or newer, The axles are much larger and you will need the extra strength with 33" tires. With the hagen mods a 2" suspension lift should be enough.
