which wheel for tracker
« on: June 03, 2009, 09:58:00 PM »
I have a 96 2-door tracker. I just put 1" coil spacers and 2" bodylift by rocky road. I have a set of 30"x9.5"x15" tires I want to put on it. The stock rims are ugly. I want to buy some black steel wheels, not sure what to get. I want to keep the tires under the wheelwell. Not sure on backspacing or if I need a 7" or 8" rim. Any suggestions on which wheels and the best place to get them.  Also does anyone sell the extended bumper brackets for body lifts?

I hope I don't regret this bodylift.  I bought it before I saw the other lift options out there. I want to keep this a budget build. Next thing I want to do is rollcage, bumpers and maybe winch.

96+ bumper lift brackets are super easy to make. Get 4 -  2x2x2 box tube(1/8" wall) blocks and drill holes in the center on two opposite sides. There ya go!! If you have no metal cutting supplies, have the pieces cut at a metal supplier.

Thanks for the tip on the bumper brackets. Does anyone have any suggestions on who makes rims that will have the right backspacing to keep tires from rubbing and under the wheelwells?

I did the MK1 2" body lift and spacers and my 18x9 with 285/60/18 rub the front frame, rear e-brake cable, the inner wells and everything else - I was trying to stay at 31" tall but we went too wide.  It was hard finding a 31" tire for my factory wheels so I bought these for the same price as a 15 rims and 31" tire, but i did not do enough research.
01 Tracker - OME Springs, 2" MK1 Body Lift, Warn 6K Winch, 18x9 Wheels, Rear Roll Cage and more.  95 Tracker with all Calmini bolt ons.  96 X-90 with mini lift and Super Swampers, this one has A/C and is an auto, nice.

I bought wheels from Wheelers Off Road. Look under the samari section. They have 2.5" back spacing so they stick out about 2" out of the wheelwell though. I put 29 inch tires on the rims, and yes, when mudding the tracker gets NASTY!  8)
