gas millage question??

how many miles to a yank full should i be getting in cite driving i have a 1989 tracker 8v tbi and it runs perfect. and my gas guage only goes up 2 3/4 full and it will over flow out of the tank but it will not go pas 3/4 on the guage. what can i do to fix it it driving me nuts. when it gets to E i can drive quite some time with it like that .     thanks joe

the gauge sending unit in the tank is ok i have another sending unit and i hooked it up to c if that was the problem and the gauge read the same.

did u dent the tank? i did on my 91  now it's out a bit by like a 1/4 tank

does it sit level?   the car I mean.    front to back/side to side, uneven height can cause weird readings.

My gauge stopped going all the way up also, and I have an 89'
so there might be an issue with the older gauges just not reading
accurate like they used to.

Carry a Gallon or  so of gasoline until you either figure it out or run
out of gas, that will tell you something about what's going on.

I used to get about 200-230 miles per tank highway, till I lifted
and built up my trucklet, if you are stock that would be a start
to figure out how far you can go.

ok sounds good i have a guage cluster out of a 94 so i will try it and see if it works. i get abot 200 in city now but thats pushing it i deliver pizza. but on highway i can get close to 300 miles. and im all stock the only thing i did was change the tranny from 3 speed auto to a 5 speed stick.

Did you change the gears out when you swapped transmissions?  That might explain your great highway mileage but lower then average city milage.

no i did not change the gears out i just got a 5 speed and i used my t case and put it back in
