Funnel air filter
« on: July 19, 2004, 06:45:03 PM »
Hello. I have fixed a funnel filter (honeycomb filter) on my Suzuki Escudo and its great, great speed and power and less fuel consumption. My question is that since the filter is not in a box, and we are in a dusty country, it will get quite dirty too fast. So I am wondering whether it can be washed in water or petrol when it gets dirty. ANy of you guys having it and could advise on any pre-cautions I need to take??
Thank you

I think it depends on what make of filter it is.

I know you can recondition the K&N filters, but I'm not very familiar with other makes.

I ran a K&N on my motorbike for over 100,000 miles. Thet flow well when clean but don't filter as well as a stock, even when oiled. I found that to maintain performance it had to be cleaned and reoiled at the standard service interval. K&N do a cleaning/oiling kit.
