Well I am a real PinHead and feel like a novice, I pulled the motor this evening and found the head gasket was leaking and a rear main seal leaking, NOT a cracked head or motor for that to which I thought it was. Four thousand dollars later, I am going to finish putting in the fresh engine engine in since it has more goodies done to it than the 3,000 mile old engine. And put the old up for sale for six hundred dollars (long block) to anyone that wants it. Boy I was ticked off when the guy's in my shop started razzing me telling me thank god I wasn't their mechanic and that I needed a bubble ectomy. (surgically putting a bubble in my stomach so that I might see out while I have my head up my butt) Now I will own an '89 Tin-Top that is new with exception of the body. While doing the removal in my "lucky" shirt not only did I find it wasn't as worse I had initially assumed, I lost a diamond from my wedding ring, it had 30; 1/4 KT diamonds one for every year I've been married. It's not really lost I know exactly where it is, when it fell I watched in horror as it bounced down into a hole beside the lift base. The ring is insured and the stone will be replaced. So the moral of this is 'If I didn't have bad luck, I wouldn't have luck at all.' Normally I remove my ring when working but I'd forgotten to do it just this time. My wife didn't know about it till just now as she is standing behind me reading my post. :-/
