lift question
« on: October 29, 2010, 12:24:13 PM »
ok so I have an 87 sami with I think a 3" deaver spring under and 235/75R15's on it. I dont plan on wheeling a ton because this is my daily driver and I am in school and cant afford to fix it if I break something wheeling but I would like to get alittle more lift and cheaply. I would like to possibly put 31's on this next year when my rubber gets low on the 235's.

How much lift is the max recommended for spring under? At what size lift do you need to look at getting driveline spacers? I want to know this because I dont have the expertease, tools, or anything to do a spoa while im going to school and with a new family.

Can people also please post pics of their spua lifts.

I have a RUF set up with a 2" Calamini rear spring and currently run 30" x 9.5" Maxxis Mudders. I have a 4" drop pitman arm and 1" driveshaft spacer. I am also running 1" wheel spacers and 1-3" lift shocks.

All of this is pretty low budget and is reatively easy to do with simple hand tools and a minimal amount of time.

I know the voices aren't real.... but they have some pretty kewl ideas!!! Tux.....  ;-)

Here is a few pictures of the SPUA Sammy's in my club.  6" Calmini SPUA with 31" Swampers.   Really stable on the road, but they don't flex very well.  But that is what lockers are for, so you can crawl like a turtle.  The same lift is on both rigs, it was pulled off of one and installed on the other.

Its pretty much done now with the exception of a couple of recovery hooks to be added. Right now it is a little larger than life but once I slide the 34" Swapmpers underneath they should tame the size down some...

Then its on to the rear bumper for a 2nd generation make-over....

***Back to the young fellerz o-riginal question though.... I thought about it some more... If you want to keep it super simple and just tweak it up some why not increase your shackle size?

In the near future I will be adding a 9" SPOA lift and won't need the shackles that I currently have on. If you want em they are yours... I'll send em to ya for whatever the shipping cost is. (3" lift)

Just drop me a PM ta let me know...
