i'm sorry if this is such a nooby question, but i'd like to know some things.

at the moment, i have 31" MT/Rs on my vit/trackick, i have 3" body lift, and about 3" suspension lift, and the 31"s do not rub anywhere on the body or chassis at any time.

now, for those who have 33" tyres on they vits, how much more work is needed to fit these in place of 31"s?

i already know about driveline stresses and so on, cos i always read about that, and essentially, my drive line is stock. i dont do a lot of hard core stuff much anymore, and i guess i could be partly classed as a poser or a maller if i get 33"s.

i'm working to get some reduction gears by the end of the year, so maybe it'llturn out ok.

but with the tyres, what goes? i've already bashed the firewall in, and cut the rear of the front fenders, but beyond this, i'm a bit hesitant. i dont mind putting more suspension lift in, but that gets complicated after where i am now.

also pics of how and what needed to be modified is also good.

i looked through the members ride section, and 1bigtracker has 34"s i think, no lift, and stock driveline and motor. he seems to be doing pretty good, and also markyb from the UK, this is what i hope i'll be doing.

I'm running 33x10.50-15" Swamper TSL radials on my 93 Tracker. It's got a 4" body lift, 1-1/2" coil spacers and I have the tires mounted on 15x8" rims with 3.5" of backspacing. I had to pound the firewall/floorboard some and cut about an inch from the back edge of the front wheelwell. I also had to hammer the rear wheelwell lip up in behind the opening all the way around the tire so it wouldn't cut the shoulder of the tread. Other than that, they fit really well and don't rub anymore, even at full stuff...

hey digger, how did you do your body lift? any pics?

how much more modding between the 3" and 4" BL? i have 3" at the moment, and i dont see why i cant go an extra inch, as i would only need to extend my steering shaft.

i'd like to go more suspension lift, as my chassis rails (ramp over) always hits on rocks and cliffs etc.
but may take another year of saving $$$.

and with the rear lip in the guards, i have my rubber flares mounted/screwed into this lip, so if i need to smash them back up, i'll need some other form of flare for the tyres. (just on the back)

The body lift on the 93 was done by the previous owner. He cut out chunks of 4" square stock(thick wall) and welded it in place of the body mount studs and rubber bushings. It's welded top and bottom, so the body is actually welded to the frame. :-/ This is NOT how I would have done it, but it would be more trouble than it's worth to change it now...

You are making up for the extra inch body lift by having more suspension lift. I would guess that 33's would actually fit on there now, but might rub your rubber fender extensions since those eat up tire clearance by the way they mount to the lip...

I wonder how much taller the 4" is?  

The 3" + stock body bushings would be about 3.5" I'd guess..

I have 33 x9.5s on 7" rims with 95mm of backspacing. I have a 2" suspension lift and a 3" bodylift. The floor was cut back about an inch and rewelded and the fender trimmed about the same.  The problem isn't really the height of the tyre its the width (if that makes sense!) so it doesn't really matter how high your body lift is it (unless its about 8") it will still hit without trimming. Unless you move the wheel forward, I think the Calmini arms do this and the front end widening mod would help too. At the rear I get very little rubbing with the stock arms. The Calmini arms would cause the tyres to hit the stock rear bumper under compression

I would say I have to agree with Rhinoman,
I have 4" body and 3" suspension 3.5" backspace
Rockcrawler wheels, and the Hagen A-arm relocation.

I'm running the 33-13.5 Swamper LTBs, I think this tire
is about twice as wide as a 9.5 if you measure the outside
grabber lugs, it's one wide tire, but I like the way it looks.

I still get some rubbing in the front, both at front
and rear, but only at or close to full lock.

The front rubs on the bumper mount, and the
rear rubs on the body at the corner of the footwell

The rear axle does not rub ever    comes within 1/4"
of the lip of the fender but never touches, I think it
would tho if hte rear axle were not rotated back about
an inch
