« on: February 03, 2011, 12:58:14 AM »
im thinking about putting a calmini 3 inch suspention lift on my tracker. all i really want to know is wat size tires i can fit. either the 2 inch or 3 inch. im thinking bout runnin 30's or 31's. ive got a tracker witht the spacer lift and 31's but ive cut the fenders. im not looking to do that on this tracker. im looking for something thats gonna ride good and look good. any advice? i dont have to have the calmini lift any lift thats gonna ride good, clear up to a 31, and thats not gonna put the tire in the rear fender well to bad thanks

I have the calmini 6 inch combo. Its ride pretty rough to me, i can feel almost everything when going down the road. Its suppose to be a better ride if you have bumpers and winch (from what i have read) Clearance wise i have 31x11.5x15 super swampers ltb. My rims are 15x8 and the backspaceing is 4 inches. When turning hard left my nobs grab the frame, and i had to trim some of the front bumper on the bottom. The recommended backspaceing is 2 too 2.5 inch back spaceing. Also you would want to run this if you ever have a problem with the kit because calmini will ask what your backspaceing is to determine if they should send you a new part. IE a strut breaking (from my experience with them). So all wraped up if you want nice ride quality i would buy the kit and put ome springs or just put the money up for the alteredego/zukination lift. Alo the flex isent all that great for what you are paying unless you do all the hagen mods. Just my 2 cents.

What does everyone els think of the kit?

I run the Cal mini 3 inch lift with 31 x12.5 x15 x terrains on 15x8 Dick Cepeks. I get a little frame rub on full lock and had to massage the lower front fenders. The set up works well in the Desert, Rocks and sand. Hope this helps... TRC If you need some pics let me know!

altered ego lift looks good ,they say it will fit 31"-32" with no body lift but a little pricey but i guess if you want to have ride quality then you will pay for it . just my 2cents

I am building my rig based on 31-10.5/15, the width is a big factor when choosing tires/lift. I am running a 1" body lift just for that little extra clearance it gives me, also because I don't want to hack fenders/tires. with the body lift and low range off-road 2'' spacers I should have just enough clearance at full lock. you can also think about the hagen widening mod, that moves the front suspension forward, to avoid frame scrub get the tire/wheel farther out.. skinnier wheels with a farther offset will do this..  all in all you have to figure how much your willing to pay for what you want. hope this helps.

The Hagen mods will definitely help with wheel clearence both front and rear. The Altered Ego lift still looks like the best bang for the buck as far as IFS lifts go, IMO.

I am running 30x9.5x15's w/o any rubbing, but have been making mods as problems arise.  If you want a nice ride with your lift, use taller & heavier springs.  If you aren't heavy off road, you might get by with XL7 springs up front, and some OME lift springs for the rear.  You will probably have to fold over the floor joint where floor starts going up towards the firewall, when it rubs.  If you have frame rubbing when turning, that is what they put bump stops on the steering box for.

I'm running 2" spacers and a 2" bodylift with 31x10.5's & i had no rubbing until full flex in front they rubbed the rear of the fenders ! My opinion is spend the extra $$ and get the altered ego lift, my opinion is that its much better than the calmini kit! Im new to the board but not to wheeling! I used to be a Trailguide at Paragon Adventure Park before it closed and Ive seen alot of trackers and kicks having issues with the Calmini kits! Springs stiff, unstable when unloading springs like the wranglers have throwing the vehicle around, most of the kits that ive seen work the way they should are modified! you shouldnt have to do that for a bolt on kit. I hope this helps!

i really like the altered ego lift but for whats in my budget 2000 is a bit high. calmini says you can run 31 on the 3 inch lift with 2.5 or 3 inch backspacing. that seems like it would stick out to far???? im not to worried about frame rub just rear fender rub. and im not gonna be offroading this tracker on nothing serious like to i do my spacer lifted on its gonna be primaraly used for snowy days and fishing in and some light offroading, im goin more for looks. i really want the allterd ego but thats just a bit out of my price range seeing as how ihave to by 2 new sets of tires cuz i need them on my other traker bad a new top and a few other things. if i had it id get it but i dont  >:(

My first experience with a lift kit was a Rocky Road 2.5" lift kit. It basiclly consisted of OME 1.5" lift coils and the OME struts and shocks. To this RR added a set of 1" coil spacers to get a total of 2.5" of lift. The OME struts and Doetch Tech shocks that came with the kit are top shelf, work great. The coils are good for moderate off roading, as long as you dont add any weight to the vehicle, if you mount a heavy bumper and winch for example, they sag terribly, even the so called " heavy rate " coils. Ride quality was quite good, for a while. The RR coil spacers did eventually crush down. I believe I ws able to run 30"s with some rub. Go with the Altered ego kit for a refined ride and no body lift to run 31's or do the Hagen Mods with a spacer lift and strut brackets and diff drop. Either way your going to have to fab some stuff, or spend some money.

Thanks i think im gonna go witht the 3 inch modified zuki nation lift. they say it can run 30's so im just gonna go with that, i might add more to it later. thats what i like about it u can spacer it change the a arms to the alter ego lift and add all the links over time so im gonna start with that and just add as i go. gonna cost more in the long run but with the cash ive got no thats all i can afford for a while
