Need info on engine swap. 8v to 16v
« on: May 29, 2005, 03:41:43 PM »
Ok this is what I’m planning on doing buying a 1989 sidekick 8 valve that is already lifted and has the set up I want, but the engine is on it’s way. I’ve got a complete 1995 tracker 16 valve, that has low k and run fine.

I wanted to know a few things, if I were to get a 1989 tracker 8 v. And planned on changing it to a newer 95, 16 valve motor. What would have to be done??  Could some one give me an idea on what would have to be changed from the 1995 16 v to the 89 8 v.

Thanks Pierre

Swap over all wiring, computer and engine,
could also need the instrument panel to get
the computer to be happy.

I'd say it's not worth the trouble of the swap ... just rebuild the 8V (and sell the 16V, Sami guys seem to pay a bunch for a running low mile 1.6 anything these days).
