4 DAYS!!!!
« on: May 29, 2005, 05:37:44 AM »
is how long it took the mechanic to do my clutch yes four days for a 6 1/2 hr job!!!! and then when he said all done pick it up sat around 1 oclock he did not show up so I stole my trucklet back after he had said on friday " all done runs nicely " so b4 I could drive it i had to attach the starter motor and adjust the clutch...you don't get much for 500 dolla any more do you .....all becuz I was too lazy to lie down on the floor and do it ....oh yeah and he left me a mary j on the front seat empty coolant bottle on the back seat ( yes dripping on the seat )

one qauestion tho when you take the drive shaft of the transfer case and then put them back on do the usually drip a litt bit for the while? cuz my rear shaft just has a little drip comin from it?

Your Zuk will run you into the poor house if you keep hiring mechanics. They are great rigs but high maintenance. If there is shade tree mechanical work going on, make sure you are the one doing it. That will keep the SURPRISE level down.

i do most of my own work but when it comes to inner engine or things that need higher lift i usually give it over to someone else  especially since the only clutches i have done were on my VW's and they were all 6 hour jobs one was 9 hours....

I am doin all my own suspensions work drive shafts and other stuff myself but the cluth I just wanted done no worries also due to getting the fly wheel mashined i thought it would be easier this way.... :-/

oh well hopefully no more worries

any ideas on the oil drippage tho?

Umm, where did he put that coolant ? ??? Dodge made a fluid drive back in 49, but it was way to high tech for 1949 and fell out of production. I don't think your clutch needed coolant.

You say oil is dripping from the rear seal on the transfercase. Replace the seal. If you have done a vw clutch, which requires removing the motor, you could have done the Zuk clutch. Suzukis are very straight forward mechanically, even though you often have to pull other stuff to get at the parts you are working on. SIMPLICITY is why we love them.

Ask him for the machine shop bill on the flywheel. Hope he has one. Also hope you haven't paid in full yet. I suppose reattaching the starter and clutch would have added another day or two and $200. So I guess you got off cheap. ;D

So hey Zuk bro, enough fun at your expence. I have only been on this site a short while, but from what I see these dudes can and will help with anything you decide to tackle. Get under there an get dirty...later

If the leak is very slight, drive it and check the oil level for a couple of days and see how much it is leaking. Decide if you can live with the slight leak. If you want to replace the seal I think you can do it, concidering  the vw work you did. You will need a inexpensive seal puller ti remove the seal and a socket large enough to install the new seal. Take note how the seal looks before you pull it and install the new on the same direction. I am going off line now, back on tonight.

took me about 6 hours to drop the gear box in a tracker, but that was by myself with just basic tools and 2 bottle jacks.

sammys are way easier.

well I would say the leak is not that light as I had a puddle under neith so hopefully these seals are not expensive as I will do fr and rr seals.....and even tho I want to blame it on the mechanic he probably did not do it but age and him just moving the shaft did it

but I will still blame him!!! >:(
