Usually piston rings or valve stem seals.  "Dying" is relative though.  You could still run a long time as is.

The reduced power from a weak cylinder wll probably cause you some MPG, but I have a #4 cylinder with very little compression and I still get 22 - 23 MPG with my 3 speed auto.

dud if ur engine goes it ain't dead get a rebuild from one of the many after market places and bore it 30 over. that should give u a significant increase in power and a well running engine for another 100,000 miles.

Oil on the outside is a leaking valve cover gasket.

Isn't it oil on the threads is valve cover gasket, and oil on the electrode is rings? If it is rings, can't you get some more life out of the engine by switching to a heavier oil?

If you can see wet oil on the electrode of
the spark plug, you might as well start filling
up the fuel tank with 2 stroke mix, that's too
much oil passing the rings.

He didn't say what part of the plug had oil
on it, but it's common to see a valve cover
gasket leak oil onto the #3 and 4 spark plugs.

If your plug was loose it might not have been firing right.  A fould out plug looks like it has oil on it.  Gas is made from oil.

If you had such a problem that the plug was oil fouled you would have a serous smoke cloud behind you and you would be filling up the oil with every gas fill up.

If your worried, after a week pull the new plug and see what it looks like and go from there.

ok the spark plugs that were losse were the #1 and #3

the spark plug that had oil was #4...and the oil was mainly on the upper part that is still INSIDE the head..like on the threads there is like a little ring thing on the top of the threads that is mostly where the oil was...i dont remember if all the threads had oil on them i will check..the electrode however looks normal just like #2 cylinder

i will also pull the plug in a week to see if there is still oit...i dont think the car smokes at all either i will go check i saw something today but it might have just been cold i guess will double check

the valve cover gasket was replaced by my dad not to long ago in an effort to stop the oil leak( very small leaves maybe dime sized puddles if that)

i really hope it is nothing serious :(

ahh..ok pulled the plug and the plug is fine no oil and looks just like the rest =) i think maybe there was just some standing oil or something from one time when i filled it with oil....

now i got a few Qs...i need an air filter are the performance air filters really worth the 50$ buy in??

i also need an 02 sensor kragen said i can get it for $50 sound right?? also is there a special tool i can buy to get it out since i have been warned SOOOOO!!!! many times about breaking the bung in the manifold..also can i use penitrating lube?

finally someone said something about regular tune up consisting of cap and rotor...im thinking about replacing these should i? engine has anywhere from 67-74k on it ( it was towed so im not sure how many miles it has driving it may have only 50k i dont know)

thanks guys..also it looks like i am going to go ahead and build the tracker since i dont want to eat top romin in order to afford anyhting else
