Well, got the electric fan in today.  It's wired with a probe thermostat and a separate cut-off switch. The fan seems pretty powerful.  It's an eBay purchase off of a Daewoo car supposedly.  I think it'll work out fine.  Mounting was a little weird, but I think I have it secure.  I guess time will tell.

I pulled one of the water pump pulley studs and took it to the local Home Depot but wasn't able to find a matching bolt.  The size looked to be M6-1 (whatever that means).  HD doesn't seem to carry a lot of metric.  I think it's gonna take some searching to find replacements.  At least they're not in the way.

After I've lived with the fan for while, I guess I'll post my feelings about it.

Thanks to all for the help.
Jerry

My local Ace Harware has a real kickass
hardware selection, even Metrics, I just
used some short 10 or 15 mm bolts
m6-1 means 6mm 1 thread per mm
8-1.25 is 8mm 1.25 threads per mm
and so forth, more threads per mm
is a fine thread, less is a coarse thread

hope this helps
