Tow Hooks
« on: April 19, 2004, 12:42:30 AM »
A local Jeep club has a rule that to wheel with them you have to have tow hooks.  Last year they didn't think much of the ones that are stock on the tracker.  How have you guys added heavy duty tow hooks to trackkicks?

I've been to events and had people doing vehicle inspections make comments about them. Get a clevis to attach a non hook tow strap to and it will be stronger than the so called heavy duty bolt on hooks that they are use to, with 0 chance of the strap slipping off of the hook ;)

Ususlly people dont like the welded hoops like we have because it's usually used with a weaker strap that has a hook on the end. The clevis will eliminate this ;D

This one was listed under shackel on the Tractor Supply Company web page. You can get them any where that sells tractor/farming supplies (CO-OP, Tractor Supply Company, John Deer, etc...

D-rings in another name for them. Though some call those weld-on loops, D-rings, so it's all who you talk to.
I strongly suggest that you get the screw pin design. Pulling/placing a cotter pin is difficult in most situations. A screw pin design is simple enough. Make sure you hand tighten then back off 1/4 turn, otherwise you'll be using a hammer and screwdriver to try to get it to turn.

D-rings, weld the end of the front frame
cap it off, then weld D-rings to the caps.

Use a chain between the two Ds or a short
strap and clevis's (clevi) plural  ??? ;D

now pull from that with both frame rails
