late shifting tranny ?
« on: September 05, 2012, 08:39:36 AM »
I've been looking into getting a first generation tracker with an automatic and I ran into a gentleman that said he had owned two in the past . he said that the tranny was tough but after he drove it for a while it started shifting real late ( he had to wind the piss out it to get it to shift ) he said he changed the computer and it was o.k. for about three or four months , then the same thing , so he replaced the computer again and it worked  , for three or four months the it happened again , so he sold the car and got another one and low and behold the newer one did the same thing!so , my question is this , what is going on with the shifting ? he says both were like mine ( mine is a 93) so they should have been the three speed , I wasnt aware they were computer controled . but anyway , what is going on , how do I fix this if it happens to me and is there a way to bypass the computer control so the tranny will shift normally ? I'm very interested in an automatic  , but if it going to do this , I may have to use a none zuki tranny .
