LOCKERS?
« on: October 12, 2012, 02:47:28 PM »
I purchased my sammi not to long ago, and I have a few questions.  My sammi has complete toyota conversion, but I know little about lockers.  When I bought the rig this wasn't a huge dilemma, because I was happy with everything else, plus the person I was purchasing it from didn't do the work, and didn't know anything about lockers, or if it even had them.  I can't tell if it has lockers or not, because when I put it in 4low and go, it goes anywhere I have pointed it.  I know there would be lots of hoping if the rear was spooled, but the rig bounces alot anyway when on the road.  Would it be very violent around turns if it had a rear spoil.  The front has the hubs that have to be engaged of course, but I don't believe that is a locker? correct?  How should I go about figuring this out before I purchase anything.

Next If my rig doesn't have lockers, which it sounds like it doesn't, which ones should I buy.  What are the advantages and disadvantages.  The ARB sound nice but expensive.  What are your thoughts?

I am thinking a spool in the rear, and ARB in the front.  Would this be a good set up?

As for spool plus ARB, I ran that for years and was very happy with it.  But if you drive it around on the road much I would go with a normal locker in back or save up for two ARBs.  It's hard to go back once you have run with a selectable locker.

I'm running easy locks in front and spool in rear and love it. just leave the front unlocked until you need it. Yes if you are spooled in the rear the rear tires will bark a little when you go around corners. I drive it on the street alot and it,s just fine. the price for both lockers were about 300.00. The spool is a very easy install.
