What's the point of "prerunner" style bumpers? And where did that odd term come from, anyway?

The trem pre runner comes from the pre runner trucks that run the Baja 1000 and stuff.  they use them so when they nosie dive it will hopefully stop a roll over from the front.  they are also a fav to rock crawlers so they can slide  the front tires onto larger rocks.  we like pre runners cuz they are so light weigh.  lata stu

P.S.  hey B what are you wheelin?

What did that bumper set you back, if ya dont mind me askin? I have that Calmini one but I am having problems with it shifting dow about an inch or 2. I bought the car used and he bought the originally form a junk repair type yard. I think it had front end damage. he never wheeled it and put all the mods on. I never really paid attention to the bumper brackets that that the bumper it self bolts on too, they are welded to the frame. I think the original driverside one was damage so they cut one of of another Kick and welded it on to replace the damaged one.. The prob was they only tack welded it on. So the first time I put the slightest bit of load on it winching the welds let go and it put all the force on one of the passeger side bolts that holds on the bumper so it sheared off. I had a guy in town reweld the bracket back to the frame and fix the bolt. Now here are my questions, I hope all that made sence. Do the Calmini bumpers come with grade 8 bolts? if not should I up grade to them? and what are some ideas to maybe fab up some addtional braces for the bumper to make it stronger? Thanks alot

I think I remember talking him into the $350-375 range, but I'm not sure. It probably would of been more if I wasn't having him build the rock sliders and cage at the same time.
