My 4x4 too bumpy, No comfort, what next??

My 4x4 too bumpy, No comfort, what next??

Need more help. I recently bought a Suzuki, 4x4, 5-door model 1993, ESCUDO . Its a Station Wagon. I drove it first time and it was too too bumpy and very uncomfortable. I was advised to replace shock absorbers and I did that and put in MONROE shocks. But there was a very very small improvement than I expected. I was leter through this forum advised to reduce the tyre pressure, I reduced it to 32PSI and some slight improvement, but not to my satisfaction. Atleat now not bumping over small stones butbumps and dances a lot in potholes or offroad. What else can I check on??

Well, I don't know how much this will help, I have a 2000 Tracker, if there is too much tire presure it will start to do a wicked little hoola dance on the road.   ::)  I backed the pressure to 28 psi.  The recomended presure on the sticker on the door jam states to pump them to 26 I think, that is a little too low for me.  I don't mind the ride, believe me, if you drive a Cab over Freightliner with a solid mounted cab, and a sprung suspension with a loaded trailer with gas cylinders on the Cross Bronx Expressway everyday pretty much anything will feel like a Caddilac!!! ;D  Hope this helped a little.

Tire pressure can make a big difference.  Because the zuks weigh less than other vehicles, you can safely run a lower tire pressure.  In fact, the Sammy's are supposed to run at 20psi.  I'd experiment with that a little, without going below what is listed on the doorframe (Think Firestone ATX blowouts if you do!).

You can also swap out your springs for some with softer rates to help with the ride.

Infact I try to reduce the tire presuer even more. You know the situation I would want is to be able to drive on a bad fast enough without really jumping up and down too much, like I do with my Toyota Corolla. Would I then have to get stronger springs or softer ones. For the shock, I bought nee and good ones (gas) I would not want tro think of changing them at this time.

I think no matter how hard you try to "smooth" out your ride, it just wont work.

Bumpy rides are just the nature of these vehicles, you will get use to it after a while.  

They dont go too fast, they're as bumpy as hell, but Damn do I love my Trackick!

I ran 235 tires at 18 PSI works
fine, 32 is for big heavy cars not
a litttle light 2600 Lb zook.

My Sidekick is a 1991 and I have never had the shocks changed as of yet.  I don't really mind the bumpy ride all that much.

I have had to replace my Ball Joints...which costed a pretty penny...but the old one lasted 11 years or so.

I love my Sidekick.  I consider this little truck one of my best friends.

Thanks so so much. I read on the door and it read 1.6 Kgs, which is about 23PSI. I reduced the pressure from 30 to 25 for all the tires. The comfort has tremedousilly improved. I will try to do the lowest limit (23psi) and see what happens. I think if I had reduced the pressure I would not have needed to change my shocks. This is a veryhelfull forum.

Thanks so much. Now I love my suzuki even more.

Just be carefull and keep an eye on your pressure, you don't want ot go too low or you'll wind up with a blow out on the highway.  Take care,  Dave
