adjusting Camber after a lift
« on: September 16, 2003, 06:11:52 AM »
I've just had installed 1" RRO coil spacers on my already +1.5" Ironman springs, and the camber looks a little out, as is expected sometimes.
I've read posts about extending the holes in the strut tower by 5mm, but as I'm using strut spacers I thought of extending the holes in those (in the opposite direction!) instead .
However in either case it makes the edge of the new hole mighty close to the edge of the metal.
Has anyone found another way around this??

I have found a way to make a camber adjustment that doesn't put your holes on the fine edge of the metal.
Jack up and support your vehicle on stands and remove front tires.  Place a jack under the hub to support it. Remove the top one of two bolts holding the bottom of strut to steering knuckle and loosen lower one slightly. Jack up hub until knuckle tilts inward and touches strut. Ream out holes in strut brackets (both sides)until you can slide the bolt all the way back in. Reinstall bolt and tighten everything back up. Repeat this procedure for the other side then take your truck to an alignment shop and have them set it up for you. I did this to mine and have had no problems with it going out of adjustment through some fairly hard wheeling.
