back from mechanic. Think I'm missing something
« on: March 23, 2005, 04:00:48 PM »
92 suzuki sidekick jlx 4 door 1.6l 16v

Well I towed my truck back from the mechanic shop. since the replacement ecm still hasn't shown up yet. Since I didn't take my ecm out. THere appears to be a couple of things missing. One seems to be a bracket. I'm going to go back and ask. But I can't see to get the computer to mount up. The fuse block and diag connectors is hanging down in a big jumble of wires. I know that some of it bolts onto the ecm. But then the ecm mounts to what I think is another bracket that gets attached to the dash. I assume brackes since I can't get the ecm to line up with the holes. The ones you see when the speaker from that side is removed. Also there is a horn relay. and then another place for a relay that is just blank. Is that another relay? I seem to have the ecm relay, fuel relay and one other relay. But I have one blank connector that I could plug the horn relay in if I wanted to.  Thanks for any info.

On my 93 2 door Tracker LSI, the ECM mounted to the same bracket as the fuse block. On top of the fuse block with the plugs to the front of the vehicle. I have 4 relays lined up, two on each side just under the ECM.
Had a cool sig pic till I changed the text... sigh...

well that helps. The only bracket I got had two connectors on it and one relay and only a spot for one relay. Good to know what way the computer connectors face. Wish I had a picture. I been looking around the internet. But if it is a bracket. I wouldn't be able to see it in the picture anyway. since it is aboe the computer. Does the fuse block bolt directly onto the bottom fo the computer?

No, actually the fuse block bolts to the bottom of the bracket and the ECM bolts on top of the bracket. The bracket is attached to the tubular cross member behind the left front speaker by hooking 2 tabs from the bracket over 2 tabs from the cross member and the screws run pointing to the front of the vehicle... I would take a pic, but it wouldn't show much being so tight and cramped...

OKay, I think I need to go ask about the tubular cross member. I got the ecm, the fuse panel and one metal peice with one relay and two connectors. So I assume that all connects together. So if that is the case. I'm missing the tubular bracket that connects up behind the speaker. I'm in a hurry but not until I get the replacement ecm. It has yet to arrive.

By "tubular cross member" I was referring to the round metal part that is welded into the dash! I really hope that's not missing! LOL!!! Actually I had 2 metal brackets that were screwed together I think to form the mount for the ecm and fuse block...

Well, I have one gold brackt and then one silver bracket with two plugs on it. That is scroller into the other one. I was able to line up the fuse block and the the ecm. It is just there is 4 screw holes on the ecm. Two line and up and two on the outerside. Don't see to goto anything. I'm sure it is just the way I"m looking at it. Until I get the replacement. I really can't put it back together.

I had two on the underside of my ECM that lined up with the bracket and then I had 2 screws, one on each side of the ECM that held on a clear lexan cover over the ECM...
