few conversion questions

ok i have a 91 tracker auto with the 1.6l 8v and it has a whole in the block so i want to take the block off my 1.3l 8v sami and put it on 1.6l head then put it back into my sami i need to know if this is a strait conversion if it can be done without to much trouble if not then can i just take the efi and put it on the sami motor also will the power stearing work from the tracker to the samurai again with out having to go to deep in costomization? thanks

Sounds like you are trying to save some money...

First, since I have a 1.3 head on a 1.6 block, I see no reason why you couldn't put the 1.6 on the 1.3 block.

On the fabbing front, you would have to make or buy a wiring harness.  If you can understand a vehicle wiring diagram, you should be able to graft the 1.6 engine wiring (with the ECM) onto the  Samurai.  I would think that the ECM might not work as well as it might be expecting a 1.6 engine...  Just a guess on my part -- nothing based in fact.

TracKick PS units can be installed on a Samurai.  Visit Sean DeVinney at http://members.cox.net/aftermarket4x4/index.html. He can provide you with info on how to do it.  He also has PS parts, too.

HOWEVER...
I would part the tracker (except for the PS system -- see Sean for exactly what items that you need to keep...) and use the money to get a working 1.6 in your Samurai.

yeah i am trying to save money as im just about out of it i bought some parts vehicals that took a fairly large chunk out of what i was planning on spending but parts are always good to have. Oh i have another question the tires i bought are 10.5 and they slightly rub on the springs when i turn is there anything i can do besides getting new rims or tires? also i really dont want to take the whole head out of the 1.6 but i would like the efi is there anyway that i could do that? also if anyone has any other informational sites that i could gain some info on that would be highly appreciated

You can adjust the lock stops to stop the tyre hitting the frame or fit wheel spacers. With the wheel spacers you may need to trim some more fender though as the wheel will move in a wider arc.
Using the ECU from the 1.6 is likely to make it run rich as it will be calculating fuel requirements for the bigger cylinder.
You would also need to graft the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) onto the Sammy speedo.

I wouldn't recommend this swap around.

The 1.6 head has larger ports, larger valves, slightly bigger combustion chamber. Putting it on the 1.3 would in some ways be overwhelming the poor thing. A lot of work to wind up with a poor running 1.3.

For the time and trouble involved get a good running 1.6 and keep the rest for parts. In the long run it will save you time and money, plus you will have a better driver.

I put a 1.6 head on a 1.3 engine, kept the
carb and exhaust from the 1.3, really didn't
seem to gain much power by the seat of my
pants meter

i have a chance to get 2.5 inch wheel spacers for pretty cheap would these work well or would i brake studs?
