New Build-up In Progress- '99 Chevy Tracker
« on: July 09, 2009, 10:18:11 PM »
Vehicle: '99 Chevy Tracker, 4 door, 2.0, 4x4, auto, 4.87 diffs,

Lift: 2" body + 2" suspension spacers, will replace rear shocks and retain front struts
Wheels/Tires: have 16" x 6.5 Enkei's with 1" spacers, will select appropriate size Goodyear
Duratracs after clearance check; maybe 235/85/16?
Bumpers:  Front- adapting Sidekick ARB with 8,000 lb. Smittybilt winch
Rear- Valley 2"x2" receiver with roller, stock bumper will be raised  2" up from frame
Drive Train: TC gears, maybe 5.12 diffs, ARB rear locker (no front locker, to preserve aluminum
     front axle housing)
Hubs: Aisin?- '99 Tracker has air pump system for auto front axle disconnect in diff
Protection: custom sliders and skid plates- front (Aftermarket 4x4), custom build for tranny and
TC, diff guards (would like to replace aluminum front axle housing, any body have '97-99, 2
door, V6, 5 speed- I understand that vehicle has a steel front diff housing that might fit.
Engine: stock
Misc.:  Seats, lights, sound, etc.

Work is under way...any thoughts; and, does anyone have any ideas for a center console?

Thanks,

Bob

You could try see if Trail Tough's Undertaker 1.5:1 underdrive works on your transfer case. That'd save you alot of work with the diffs. Sounds like you have money to work with.  :P

Whose lift are you using? Everyone on here has their opinions on lifts.  Just curious.

Lift and components are being done in-house with aluminum body lift spacers (completed) and suspension spacers (uncompleted).  Bottom section of steering shaft has been lengthened and both bumpers (front ARB and rear stock) lifted to be flush with body.  Fuel inlet lengthened and rubber air horn has bent slightly without kinking.  Brake lines adjusted slightly.

Would love top see pics of the ARB bumper mounted on a Gen II Tracker.  Pictures of how you modified it to mount up would be cool, too. Then, everyone w/ a Calmini lift can have some weight on their front end.

Some bracketry was removed from back of the ARB.  Two boxes were welded behind the ARB that slip over the open ends of the frame- bumper was raised to accommodate body lift.  Bumper is held in place buy two horizontal bolts and one vertical bolt at each frame end.  It fits quite well and grill fits in perfectly above bumper.
