92 sidekick question
« on: June 13, 2011, 01:19:48 PM »
I currently purchased a 92 sidekick with a sammy front end swap. I am lookking to do the leaf over lift on the front differential, but would need to level the rear. I would probably be able to make up a bracket for the middle a-arm on the differential for the drop,
Now i thought i heard before that springs out of a jeep would work in a sidekick in the rear to use for the lift kit to avoid spacers but not to sure what i remember the person saying, so just wondering if anyone know anything about this and could tell me what springs it is i need.

As well if someone could give me the measurements of the drop bracket on the rear differential, that would be appreciated so i can get one made up, perferrabbly the one from the 6" kit!

thanks

Jeff, the same guy that makes spacers, has a rear diff spacer as well.  There are a couple out there that will do what you need them to.

We put some springs from the front of a Jeep TJ on the rear of BRD HNTR's Tracker.  He had to widen out one half of the coils but it worked.

How much lift are you looking for, total?

I cut 1/2 a coil off on the large end, then put it in vise and bent the first (large end) coil smaller, so it would fit inside upper spring mount.  I used a torch to heat small end coil, so I could open the coil to fit on lower spring mount.  I had already raised my shock mounts so they were not hanging below the axle mounts, or probably would have just about maxe them out.
This is what it looks like.

I like the ride, spring rate must be close.  Now there is room for some bigger tires, at least in back.
