Largest spare tire size?

Planning to swap wheels/tires when the lift goes in; just curious what size wheel/tire combo you guys have been able to fit onto the back of your XL7's?

assuming the back of your XL-7 is the same as my '03 Vitara...  I've got a BFG 245/75R16 on my spare tire carrier.  It rubs against the bumper when I open or shut the the rear door, but it fits.

Hey, thanks for the info; I was trying to measure off of the tire I have on there now, to the lowest part of the bumper... your tire size matches what I came up with, so at least now I have a good starting point.

I noticed in your sig you have that tire size listed with a 2" spacer lift; did your tires fit in well without having a body-lift?

They fit fine for the most part, but I am getting some pretty bad rub on the front inner fender, especially when I turn while backing up.  I think 2" body lift would be a HUGE help.

I went with that size tire due to getting a really good deal on a used set.  But if I were buying new tires, I think a smaller size or body lift is probably necessary.

Ugh; I was kind of afraid of that. The suspension stuff I've done, but have never tackled a body-lift... guess there's a first time for everything. I'm planning to go with around the same size you're running now, so I'll just have to bite the bullet.

Thanks for the help.

Honestly, I'm glad I've gone with the bigger tires.  I've found a local shop who will make a custom front bumper (haven't been quoted a cost yet), and if it meets the budget, I'll go that route, and won't have to worry about rub any longer in the front.  Plus I'll have something to mount my winch to.  :)

front tire's will rub the firewall before the bumper.

I'd like to eventually do something different on the bumpers as well, but I'm in the same budget conundrum... always seem to slow things down!  ::)

I saw the pics of your rig in another thread, looks good!
