I would change the coil wire first. If you have spark, the coil is working (so is the coil wire), but coil wires give more trouble than coil's. When coils go they are usually gone.[/quote BrdHntr! Thanks! Been driving around the bluff last couple days, without a problem. Starts right up, hot or cold & runs great! If I can get it to quit, I have a coil wire made up & ready to go! Did'nt get a 1/4 mi. from home.I know this off topic, but I am the proud owner of an 3yr. old English Pointer! Too thick here to BrdHnt (no farms) she is a house pet that likes to tree marsh coons.THANKS!Riverrat

I had this same problem this summer. My 87 Sammy is still had the stock carb!Hit a bump (Speed bump in parking lots) at it would quit, wait 10-15 min to get it to restart, drove me nuts!!!Solution/Cure----- it is the Fuel metering & shut off valve in the stock Hatachi carb is going bad!!This is a Non Service-able Item!! My Cure was to replace the whole carb with a Weber Carb for Sammy's from Redline carbs. It wasn't a 100 HP in a box, but you will be pleased with the big improvement. The swap took a Sunday afternoon & 4 beers. NOTE: I match ground my intake/adapter plate/ carb bores for a smoother air flow! AND it is best to lock tight the mounting studs as I had some Vac leaks from the mounting studs coming loose on my 1st outting!!CAPT
