So from a stick shift 96 tracker to a auto 97 tracker it runs but has no power... timing is correct. What could it be? The motor ran great before the swap.

If your old engine was running bad and you have the same exhaust system on it maybe it is all clogged up!

Well we pulling the timing belt cover just to make sure it for sure did not slip a tooth and nada... ugh I want my baby running right again I miss my pretty smurf! Any help guys? =(

Did you have to mess with the distributor? Could the timing be off there? Also you said from a 96 manual to a 97 auto, are you using the correct ECM and with a 97 auto there's a trans control module aw well.

The ecm is on the car right? the only thing that came out of the stick tracker was the engine so if there is a part on the engine that tells the ecm its a stick and not an auto them maybe? I really don't know?

Does you check engine light work?  Is it lit up?

It is but it always has been I guess it might be new codes now

When the 96 was running, was it throwing any codes?  If so, did you check to see what they were?

Did you ever check to see what codes your 97 was throwing, with the old engine?  If so, what were they?

Did you take the spark plug wires off, when you swapped engines?  If so, are you sure you got them back on right?

if the new motor was out of an automatic there is a vacuum line that connects to the intake, is that plugged off?

The new one is outta a stick so it did not have it so we made it... well the one to the trans don't think there were any others

Sounds like a MAF problem, they do go bad.
Could be the fuel pump, filter, or regulator if you kept the old one.
Could be the spark plugs are bad or came loose.
Could be the spark plug wires.

CEL's (codes) can be a little overwhelming, frustrating, and sometimes pointlessness but I would really get after listing them down as your next step unless you can easily swap out a MAF. At the least you'll know what your computer is unhappy about fixable or not and it may give you a clue.

Not the maf or the plugs or the wires... it is getting fuel for sure =( idk but I should have some more info tomorrow abouut the codes its sending.
