Rear End Swap, 95 'Kick 4 door
« on: January 08, 2018, 10:26:01 AM »
Good day to all!  I just wanted to double check myself before I dive off into a potential mess.  I have a healthy whine in the rear diff on my 'Kick, so I am just wanting to swap in another unit for the time being.  It is 4x4 5 speed, 5.12 gears.  I have found a 2 door tracker, 16 valve, 5 speed, 4x4 in a salvage yard.  I am actually thinking about buying the whole vehicle, but I just want to double check myself on the rear diff.  I know the brakes are different on the 2 doors, but is there anything else to beware of?  According to my research it should also be a 5.12.  The Tracker also has factory manual front hubs that I want, and good front half shafts to replace my toasted left shaft, so if the rear end will swap then it is definitely worth the money for me to buy it.  Am I missing something, or should the rear diff be a go?
