Aftermarket air filter
« on: March 09, 2011, 07:31:53 PM »
So i searched and couldnt find the information I am looking for. I picked up a universal air filter. The stock setup looks kind of choking. My question is this: On the stock box where the filter is there are several hoses that come off of it. One attaches to the PCV valve. The others are two smaller about 1/4 inch or so tubes coming off of the box. Is there a way to by pass the PCV valve and what are the other two hoses for? Could i just cap off the hole where the air would flow to the carb and let the PCV and the other hoses still get air?

Any help would be cool. It is a 1988 stock engine.

Beware of the Jeep thing, it makes it burn when you pee!!!!

You need a place for the pcv valve to vent, I'd leave it in the airbox. If you do decide to remove that hose you'll need to find a way to capture the oil mist coming out of it or it'll get all over your engine compartment, not to mention spewing vapors into the atmosphere. Not sure what the other smaller hoses are for. sammy owners?
