I have an 88 Sammy and want to do the GM CS130 alternator upgrade. Does anyone know of an exact make and model of a GM vehicle that had an alternator w the correct clocking position and better yet one w a 'V' belt pulley on it. i dont mind buying a new pulley though. i also already have the GM bracket. Thanks in advance for your help.

Get the iceberg upgrade,I'm very happy with mine,although I have a side kick the clocking should be the same.

I'm installing a bigger alternator on my Tracker. The guy at the alternator shop tested my alt. its putting out 100 amps. He told me I should put my alternator on a toggle switch and turn it off when hitting big obstacles because the bigger alternator pulls so much power. He said turning the alt. off would free up some power. Has anyone ever done or heard about this?

Also are 16v and 8v lower alternator brackets different? I'm taking a gm swap bracket off an 8v and tried putting a stock 16v alt. and bracket back on it and the pulleys don't line up

I wouldn't bother switching the alternator off - whilst it does free up some power, it's not going to be be a significant amount.

A 100A alternator, if under full load will be delivering roughly 1300W (100A x 13V) and consuming less than 2HP - what you need to ask yourself is how often will your alternator be under full load - as the electrical load on the alternator is reduced, so is the power required to drive it.

i put my GM alt lower bracket from my 1.3 onto my 16v i used the 1.3 top bracket too    they bolt right on no mods
