Removing Cat, how do I cheat the 2nd O2 sensor?
« on: May 23, 2011, 10:39:27 AM »
I have a '98 4 door with a 4.5" lift and running 31's, 5th gear is almost useless on the highway unless it's flat or down hill. I have no smog or inspection where I live and was thinking of removing the cat, how do I cheat the second O2 sensor? I've heard of a device that plugs into the O2 harness that sends a signal to make the computer happy.....any one know where I can get one of these?...if they exist...what other options do I have??? Thanks.

Cheers
Kevin

theres also mechanical devices that sometimes work. you can use a thread in spacer that has a smaller hole in it to reduce pulses to make the comp. think the pressure reduction is still there between first and second sensor.

another thing you can do is use a spark plug non fouler, drill it out and tap it to make the o2 sensor thread in,, you can pick them up at most any auto parts store,,, all it does is space out the sensor so there isn't as much exhaust passing the sensor, hope this helps...

if i.m not too late, the easiest cheapest ad most effective way with no drilling and only cost a dollar. Plus u get best fuel economy over other plug ins.  w truck at  just below normal operating temp in cool weather  back probe o2 sensor for resistance reading. Goto radio shack and  buy resistor w same value. Unplug sensor from harness and place resistor in its place. Silicone to seal it and ta da! Ur truck thinks sensor is working and is telling to computer to give best a/f ratio. Aka better hp
