chevy alternator doesn't line up?
« on: July 07, 2011, 07:05:53 PM »
I have an 88 samurai I just got. It has a 1.6l 8 valve tracker motor. The guy before me put in a chevy alternator and its chewing up belts. I looked at it and it's not lined up very good. I was wondering if anyone has put one of these in before and if so what they did to get it to work. Do they sell a kit to fix it or should I modify it myself?

Also the crank pully wabbles, turns out he tried to adapt a 1.3l pully and din't do a very good jop drilling it. Does anybody have one for sale? No power steering. If not where do I get one. Thanks guys I'm new to the site and am still figuring things out. I appreciate all help and tips!!!

You can buy a GM Alternator Bracket from Trail Tough, if that is your problem. From your post, I think it is your crank pully that is chewing the belts. Trail Tough can help you with that also.
