TT indestructable Trans and TC mounts for Track/Kicks
« on: January 11, 2012, 11:24:07 AM »
Well after going thru the originals and a set of brand new factory style trans and TC mounts in my Sidekick, I decided something had to be done and was looking at inserts to fab up some mounts, when I was looking at the directions for TT's undertaker and noticed they had a set of mounts and they looked, at least in the pictures, to be direct replacements for the stockies. So I called Brent and sure enough they are direct replacements, they just havnt had the time to add it to their online catalog.

Here they are the trans mount on the left and the TC mount on the right.

I think they should do just fine, I was considering making my own but without a welder it isnt going to happen very soon, LOL

I do like that the "inserts" are rubber, they should be far better at dampening vibrations than a polyurethane style of insert. The inserts appear to be a cartridge type that is used in the factory truck A-arms, the part numbers on the insert cross to them.

179$, a tad pricey, but when the stockies start flopping around with only a few hundred miles on them and need replacing in a thousand they will be worth every $$$

I was hoping you would post this up, I'll be ordering a set as soon as they put them up on their website. Did you install them yet ? Was curious to see what you though.

I havnt had a chance to put them in, maybe this afternoon if the rain stops.

I wouldnt wait for them to show up in the on line catalog, TT isnt very up to date on their site. Far easier to call and order them. Seldom do I ever purchase online, I pick up the cell phone and call as I would rather talk to a person and get the correct part.

Well today was probably going to be the warmest day for awhile, 36 degrees. So I broke out a piece of cardboard and slid under the Sidekick to swap out the mounts. The OEM type pass side mount had already become a limp piece of shyt and had started to rip with just 300 miles or so on them.

Here are the stockies and the TT mounts

And here the TT's are installed

After installing them I had to go inside and thaw the fingers out and then took her for a spin. All of the drive train noises are gone, no additional vibrations are transmitted going down the road, you do have to be a little more gracefull with the clutch in the lower gears or you get a harsh engagement(trans/TC isnt moving around while under torque). I will check out the offroad performance here shortly.

Love shiny new parts, but they make everything else look old and dirty! I've never had any issues with my mounts but for the future these look killer.
The usual stuff, and 2nd generation Air to liquid intercooled TURBOCHARGER

LOL, yep, I love to fondle the new parts for a few days before installing......

Just about every thing else on the Sidekick has been cleaned and protected other than the drivetrain tunnel area. The TC that I plan on installing has been cleaned up with a touch of steam, then blasted with medium grit media.
