The Story:

I was a trail leader for Moab Rim at the 10th annual Cruise Moab (sponsored by my club, Rising Sun 4 Wheel Drive Club of Colorado).  This is coming down the Devil's Crack on Moab Rim Trail.  A flop here is almost guaranteed death, because there's nothing to stop you from this point to the Colorado River, about 250 feet below (the cliff is just off the left side of the picture).  This has always been a dramatic obstacle, and the first time I ran it, Eric Bewley was my spotter (was that Zukfari 2004 or 2005?)

Just after this picture, I got her down on just the front tires (and maybe the sliders), and hung there, balanced for about 10 seconds, while I said things like "this is SO not right!", then I just drove out of it.

I took a bad line.  I should have been at least a foot farther to the driver's side.  But you know, when you're the trail leader, you don't need no steenking spotters, right?  Well, after that, I had no problem bringing the rest of my drivers down - FJ-40's, an FJ-80, some 4Runners, and an FJ Cruiser.  No major carnage.

Nice pic....bad line...oops...Awesome trail got married at the top in 01 and just got back from ejs last month. Proud to say my 14 year old son driving a 88 sammi was trail leader for the day and took us up and back down driving on his own. Only problem was with a friends grand cherokee breaking a st box. Try driving devils crack with nothing holding the st box on but two ratchet straps.....only in a jeep ha ha

Trail Tough.  They're Bushwhacker flares.  Brent sells 'em for the Samurai.
