Ahhhh,

Now I think I understand.  So you welded the nuts around the outside of the pipe?  I think that's what I'm seeing...

He has had that setup for a good long while...  No problems what so ever.  Darrin built that lift before anyone ever made a lift for a track/kick.  I really want to do something similar some time in the near future...

I want to make sure I undertand how you did this...  If I'm correct, your spacers look like this.

That's the way it appears anyway (*hoping I'm not totally out in left field*) :-[ :-[.  If so, is the dimension marked "x" the same for all four nuts?  If it's not, please explain.  If I am wrong with the construction of the spacer, then try to explain it again...lol

Thanks again,

Yep, that's about it, dimention X  was
determined by the spring it's self, I slipped
the tubing into the spring, and placed the
nuts next the the coil and welded, about
1" or so tubing slid into the spring so it
offers some support and doesn't pop out

Sweet, and you only used 4 nuts right?  Just welded in and around the hole in the nut?  So one of your nuts is placed effectively as a "coil stop" (for lack of a better term)  right at the very end of the coil?  Just want to make sure I have a good understanding of this before I attempt it.  Oh, one more thing.  Do you know what the wall thickness of the tubing you used is, or what you would reccomend?

Thanks Darrin!

You got it, like I said .......  High Tech   :)

I used some .100 wall tubing, was actually
industrial chain link fence post, so it was hot
galvanized, I would get plain steel tubing and
paint it, or use some of your Armor Coating  ;)

Yeah, I knew you had used galvanized fence post, but I didn't know whta the wall thickness was.  That's a little less than 1/8th of an inch.  I was thinking at least 1/8th inch, so I guess that should work.  Did you do anything to the edges at all?  Or are they just straight cut?  Also, the spring just sits there on the spacer right?  It's not attached in any way?  For some reason I'm thinking you may have told me you tack welded it somewhere or something... I dunno. I assume you measure them and cut them after you had it in the spring and welded the nuts, so did you just measure from the top wrap on the coil (the coils highest point)?

These are a friction fit, no welding onto
the spring, and just use the same point
to measure from, spring to top and the
length should be fine, even an 1/8" off
from side to side won't show, and I'm
sure you'll get it closer than that.

If you want 3" lift, use the highest point
that the coil would touch when installed
stock, I removed the rubber pad that's on
the top side of the coil bucket, the thin edge
would probably cut thru anyway, unless you
use some sort of ring about the thickness
of the coil on the top, now you need some
Crown Victoria rear shocks and a balljoint
spacer and you have a 3" lift, in the rear anyway

;)

Can I uses the same design spacer for the front as well, just only make it 2" high (to yield a 3" lift)?  Then make the strut spacers for the struts...then I'll have a 3" lift all the way around  ;D ;D
