Carb Removal Tips
« on: November 21, 2011, 05:18:16 PM »
It looks like I need to remove and replace my stock carb on my 87 Sami. I narrowed down my poor running to the carb. Petroworks has them for about $585 for a rebuilt unit. Is that on the high side? I trust them to do a good job. I met the rebuilder and he seems to know what he is doing.

Second issue, is there a link on getting the bowl of spaghetti of hoses off in order (tips), and I can only see two of the nuts for removal.

Any advice on the carb removal?   ???

You have 2 nuts on the battery side which you probably see, and the other 2 are toward the valve cover side under the vacuum hoses. I cut the open end part of the 12mm wrench to make it shorter and easier access to turn the nuts. For vacuum hoses you should have a diagrahm on the underside of the hood or you can find it at Ack's faq website. It really looks alot worse than it is. Hope this helps. ;D

I found the location of the four nuts, I had to move the hoses around to spot them. Still looking for a good link to remove the carb.
