Hood clearace
« on: November 19, 2009, 07:22:06 PM »
I just put 89 geo motor in my 87 sammy and I have major hood clearance problem with that bigger horn on the 89 injector.I don't think just cutting out the x brace under the hood is going to do it.I really don't want a body lift but it is looking like I have no choice .It looks like it will take at lest a 2 inch what do you guys do about this problem . will a 1 inch body work

man I would cut the motor mounts and lower the engine before the body lift, you can even cut the frame mounts off and lower them and weld them back on and then lower the trans mount to match.

One advatage to this is that if you did a suspension lift it would take off some extra tension in the CV joints.

I would go for the hood scoop. If you don't have a suspension lift then lowering the motor may give you clearance problems with the oil pan. Lifting the body will make it less stable and its only too low in one small area.
