Lockers

Is there any advantage or disadvantage to running a lockright with or without couplers. I know with couplers is noisy but are there any problems running the one without couplers. Any input would be great. I am new to this stuff.

The couplers are what make the unit unlock under heavy load.  Removing them, if I understand you correctly, will effectively disconnect the ring gear from the axle shafts thus removing all drive to the wheels.  That "popping" sound you hear when in a turn is the LockRight telling you that it has reached maximum torsional stress and has briefly unlocked.  When unklocking occurs, it becomes easier to drive in a turn as opposed to a straight line.  This feature lets the LockRight (and variants) sort of (!) act like a cross between an open differential and a locked differential.

Hope this helps!

I think he means when you buy them with or without couplers, most buy them without because if you bend a housing they will slip, they have a more square of a tooth and a finer one at that, the stock side gears work just great and it is the cheaper of the two.

That is exactly what I meant. I don't mind spending the extra it they work better with couplers. If there is no real advantage then I will buy the kit without.
