MIKE H. rear end ?
« on: February 09, 2005, 06:35:00 AM »
hey mike i was looking at your website and see u r running a 9" rear. i was wondering if you had to cut it down and if not what did it come out of and where did u get ur gears. i have a 44 front and a 9" rear out of a bronco and we are going to shoten them this weekend. if u got ur 9" out of a vehicle and it fit it would save me alot of time and money if i don't have cut the ones i got and order axleshafts. i am going to run a kicker3 case to a sammi to eliminate the slip yokes and tom woods high angel drive shafts. i have it all drawn on auto-cad so everything is measured and clearanced just need to bring all to the real world. i am planning on running 4.10 axle gears with a 4:1 lowrange in the sammi case. i figure that should be about right for 37" to 38" tires. i forgot to say that i will be making my wheel base 8.6" longer for a little more stability.

My 9" is Stock CJ width and is Narrower than the Factory Kick rear axle. I had to use spacers to get it as wide as the Kick axle. It is a Currie Unit that came out of a UROC buggy. I have not been looking closely at Mikes Rear End ::) so he will have to speak for himself on how WIDE it is :P ;D

Check this out if you haven't already. Just don't mind the M151 and T90 stuff around the edges. Currently it's setup for what my kick was before the toy axles. You can edit data in here and see your RPM ranges, etc. I think you'll find that you might be riding your clutch when it's on the street with 37's or 38's with the 4.10 gears. 35's should be really good though.

You'll need Excel.

thanks heather i might have to go with the 6.5:1 low range because i just got the axles the rear is a 4.10 but the output for the front is drivers side. i think i may use the dana 30 wide trac out of a cj8 it is in my shed i have to go look at itand check the r&p.

Dunno why I didn't think of the Early Bronco also!

They are great in the Ranger's and Bronco 2's (where I first got into 4 wheeling) and would be perfect in a trackick also, giving it a wider stance also.

I'm going with D44's out of a scout for my SAS (next summer).
