        Yea your right, manual, auto what's the difference, j/k. WOW i must be stressed, that is like the third time I have done something like that in the past week  I still would not do a deisel transplant into a hunting vehicle.

looked on trail tough products and saw the 4.9:1, 115% reduction transfer case gears.  would these work for what i am needing.  if you can't tell i don't know crap about mechanical stuff.  i can't even change the oil.

FSM, and get a friend that is Mechanical if you are going to rebuild a motor, its not really hard if you follow a few simple rules,  allways Mic everything twice to be sure its good Always replace bearings and seals, RTFM and then RTFM  and ask lots of questions, lota ppl on here that are experianced.  always use a torque wrench.   and after you do one it gets pretty simple,   however if your the type of guy that has parts left over from changeing the oil,   buying a prebuilt motor is more expensive but it has a warrenty. and always rember the KISS solution

No, those T-case gears are for a Sammy
case, won't do you any good, unless you
get a Kicker3, but that's as much as a rebuild

There are a few options out there for a 4:1 T-case gear set, BUT, none of the Sidekick t-case reductions reduce the high range gearing. So it would help out ALLOT off road but you will still be very sluggish on the road.

Some supply thing between them and Richmond Gear (<--- was fabricating them) I think that Calmini is getting set up to make the gears themselves.

Just my Two Bits

     With 188,000 miles gears come second to making sure the engine is in shape. Both are a chunk of money but if it don't run right the gear money is wasted.
     Unless the engine has major problems you haven't mentioned all the parts to rebuild should be under $500.00. Plus machine work and any mods you do.
     Then hit the net for a couple of 5.38:1 diffs from a 1991 SideKick 4dr. No it's not a perfect solution but you will have a good engine for another 100,000 and better gears.
