If i buy spring spacers and need shocks too. What shocks should I buy to get best stroke?

ProComp Longer Travel Shocks
Procomp ES1000 series shock absorbers provide great performance and value. The narrow profile will not interfere with Suzuki lower shock mounts like larger body shocks will. Includes black boots. Sold in pairs.

I ordered a set for my coil spacer install have not used them yet. I think Maroon Monsoon uses them.

I do have them. they do interfere with the lower shock mount but not enough to worry about and they hit my panhard bracket on the axle when the drivers side is fully drooped which makes it lose a half inch or so of droop on that side. that's only on 2nd gens wehre the panhard is a problem.
I'd get them again. I got the 2 inch lift shocks (they are not 0-2 cause they bottom out like mad stock height) and they work great. a tadd stiff at times but that's better than too soft by far

hey, i have a question to add to this. what would be a good shock thats not going to be to stiff... seems like most shocks are made for heavyer trucks.

yea, even pro comp's lightest duty shock is stiff on my GV which has to be a bit heavier than your kick. the thing is that if it's a daily driver it's better to have too stiff of a shock rather than too soft because too soft will bounce and your kick will wobble around. mine does a little cause my ome struts are not quite stiff enough for the GV but almost so the woble is minimal. ome shocks would probably be about right on that but I would never buy anything ome except the struts due to thier high pricing. to me thier stuff is nothing special, just allot of hype.. I do have to give them credit for having the only longer strut though. to avoid too stiff of a shock your best bet is probably a pro comp es1000. as far as I know they are the lightest duty shock you can get that are actually made for 2 icnh lift, 3 inch lift and 4 inch lifted kicks. allot of people will get a napa (monroe I think) shock made for a ford crown victoria and they should be lighter duty than a pro comp es1000 by a bit but I don't know how much longer than stock they are or how they perform. people seem to like them and they are CHEAP... ask around for people that run them

With up to a 2" lift, I have been running Monroe Gas Matic shocks from the rear of a 91 Ford Crown Victoria. They are 1.5" longer than stock, mount the same way as stock, are a little thinner in the body than stock and they ride really nice, not too soft or squishy at all on my 2 door soft tops. Plus they only cost me $13 each at Advance Auto Parts... ;)

thanks for the info digger. just for comparison sakes, how do the crown victoria shocks compare for stiffness, to the stock factory shocks. are they stiffer, or softer than factory?
im just trying to figure out what i should use to replace the ones that i have. it feels like the rear axle is bolted solid to the frame. :'(
-
That would not be a fair comparison since the only factory shocks I've driven have been worn out. I can compare them to the gasmatics that were custom fit direct replacements for the tracker, though. The longer crown vic ones felt about the same to me, possibly SLIGHTLY softer, but not really enough to say for sure. I know they allow the rear end to flex nicely offroad and the ride is still firm enough not to wander around at all on the road.

I have been useing the crown vic shocks for about year and a half the only thing I can say is go for the better ones. I ran cheap auto zone shocks gabriels second time out on the dirt and the drivers side gave out bounced back home. The next day ran over to advanced and tried there best in stock the KYB at about $80 for the pair still goin a year and a half later little bit of rust but alot more travel and they have a nice ride not to firm not to soft. I wish I had seen the pro comp shocks sooner would have went with them they look a little better with the dust boot insted of all metal.

the thing with the pro comp shocks is that they are not good if you like comfort. mine are a bit stiff for my GV but I like them. my ome struts are too soft to me but others like the soft ride. if you don't mine sacrificing a little comfort for a heavier duty shock that will keep the vehicle completely still while the axle goes through all the little washboards and bumps the pro comp is it. if you don't like having a really stiff feeling rear suspension for a big bump here and there, don't get pro comp.. I would buy them again and I love them. don't mind the stiffness. works great and I wouldn't have anything lighter duty for when I haul things

Does anyone know the extended height of the pro-comp shock 0-2 / 2-4 from boondox I run the crown vic shocks but like the way the pro-comp look. The crown vic shock is the perfect height fully extended it wont let the spring pop out. I will get the height on my crown vic shock later today.

I forgot to measure the difference but on my gv with boondox coil spacers part of the coil unseats pretty good. no problems though

Hey maroon you said in your post before that they bottom out how. Did you compare them with the stock shock.

I did, they are quite a bit longer. they have great flex. any longer shock will max out unless you extend the bump stop and I didn't bother on my rig. the shock boot seems to have kept it from making any metal on metal contact. a few ruber flakes inside the shock boot from it's bump stop function but it's all good. with the coil spacers it NEVER bottoms out while driving around even over speed bumps and driving over roundabouts really fast. high speed on dirt roads it's awesome.

I'm going to order them today from boondox $60 is not that bad I can then compare them to the crown vis shock I will post some info after I get them and put them on Thanks for the info.

no problem, like I said, they aren't exactly a comfort shock but seem like they are pretty bullet proof for the weight of a zuk

Just got my pro comps from boondox yesterday.
Measured from the center of the bolt hole to the very top (fully extended) 22". Measured the stock ones same way 20"

i have the crown vics straight from ford on mine and the ride nice and smooth, no unseating of the spring when at full droop. no complaints with them at all.
-
I have the crown vic shocks from monroe , I think the sensamatic whatever that means. they were fairly price, easy to install, and ride very well. I can't comment on them compared to the stock shocks, since they were completely toasted when I got the vehicle.....
-
I have the Monroe 91 Crown Vic shocks too with no complaints!
