Okay thank you for the info I will defiantly do that. On another note the Monroe steering damper fits pretty well and the vehicle driving difference is like night and day.

For future questions of this nature, go to megazip.net and use their parts search facility, you can enter your vehicle chassis number or navigate you way through the pages to find what you want.

If the part numbers match, they will interchange, if they are different, they may or may not.

Crap. I was told that they would prior to seeing your response. I ordered a set of drums and shoe from suzukipartsusa. I sourced a Monroe steering damper that does look like it will work. I will list the part number if it works for others to reference

They are different and the 'samurai' brakes won't fit. You may be better off sourcing Samurai axles and swapping those in. Bigger parts and a little wider stance. The spring pad location is the only issue.

I'm also looking for an aftermarket steering damper

« Last post by ontario410 on July 20, 2025, 05:16:00 PM »
I need to replace the steering damper on my 83 sj410 and am wondering if I need to order a OEM one or if anyone has a part number or size for a aftermarket one.

Thanks

Suzuki Samurai (All SJ Platform) 1981-1998 / 83 sj410 wiring diagram

Hello,
My headlights stopped working the other day so I started looking into it and found an absolute mess of a wiring job from the previous owner. Does anyone have a wiring schematic for a 1983 sj410?
I don't see a headlight relay so I'm thinking it's either the switch itself on the steering column or I've got a open wire somewhere
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the info. I'll see what I can figure out.

On a fuel injected engine, high idle is caused by excessive air flow - the trick is to find where the air is getting in.  It can be the throttle plate open more than it should be, or air leaking into the intake, which is your so called "vacuum leak" - PCV valve & hose, brake booster, literally anything connecting on the manifold side of the throttle plate.  There's also I believe a throttle opener on those motors that holds the throttle plate open for the first 5 seconds or so after startup.
