OK that was a little vague

1987 Suzuki Samurai manual transmission. no ac or power steering.
Modifications that may or may not affect timing:
EGR has been removed and blanked off, likewise the PCV.
The stock carburetor is long gone, it had a Weber when I bought it and has been converted to a Harley CV.

The distributor advance was attached to the manifold to get it's vacuum input.

Do we have to guess what you're adjusting the timing on?  Is there a prize if I guess correctly?

At the Cline Butte meet it was suggested that the distributor vac line to the manifold wasn't helping. So I removed it and capped it off.
It starts easy and drives great, but now where to set timing at idle (800 rpm)?
I'm at 12dgs btdc now but my greedy nature is pushing me to "give it a little more and see what happens"
How to tell when it's too much? pinging? overheating?   

The meet was fun and the diff damage was welded up and is working fine.

Everything still on for Cline Butte Friday-Saturday-Sunday?
I plan to be at the staging area by 300pm.  If nobody is at the orv site I'll look for "the pit"

I will be leaving Longview about 9am (ish) for a three hour drive. so that's a maybe.

I'm looking to buy a '97 Sidekick Sport JX 4WD with 5 speed manual. It's 1,800 miles from me so I'd fly there and drive it home. Is it FLAT towable behind my RV?

I'd answer that with a MAYBE.

The transfer case has a neutral position, BUT, the deciding factor is going to be the front freewheel hubs, if it has auto freewheel hubs, then no, if it has manual front freewheel hubs, or you swap the auto for manual, then yes.

As mentioned above, transfer case in neutral, transmission in second gear, stop every 200 miles and run the engine for a few minutes, with the transmission in second gear and the transfer case in neutral to circulate the oil in the transfer case.

You sure can.  I have been flat towing my 92 Kick for decades.  I welded a baseplate on the front and use a Harbor Freight Towbar among others, HF LED tow lights, NSA Ready Stop and Brake.  For years the Kick was so light I just had the Ready Stop.  I barely notice it is behind me.  Ignition in acc so the wheel turns and Transfer case in Neutral and 2nd gear for flat towing.     Have a fun trip.
