That's the end result of driving around on a shot bearing for 2 days, then having it go kaput a few hundred yards from your house :-X

I did not torque mine down correctly, drove 3 hours to Tellico. Noticed a grinding noise on the way to the trail head (thursday). Thinking it was mud/dirt in the breaks I drove it all weekend. by sunday is was grinding REAL bad for the 3 hour ride home. When I stoped in the drive my wheel was sitting like  l-----\  I knew something was bad wrong, :P but I had a good time wheeling  ;D

how do you know the bearings are going bad other than grinding sounds?

I noticed a small amount of up and down movement the last time I had my geo jacked up in the front. I could grab the tire and kind of wiggle it like the bearings where loose. Is it time to replace or is this just a retighten situation?

The best way to describe the noise is like
the road noise in a unibody car, you hear
this rumbling rough sound, not grinding ...
Yet, but un attended will start.

Once you hear grinding, bearings are shot

Your loose wheel is a repack and tighten
situation, unless you let it go too long, then
you have to replace
