Hagen front end spacer
« on: February 20, 2007, 11:48:20 AM »
Hey guys i am getting ready to do the hagen front end widening on my track, I was wondering how thick of a spacer is needed instead of chopping up a bunch of axles I dont have. I have the tools to make it I just don't know how thick it needs to be ?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure it needs to be the thickness of two axle flanges, according to the write up. Anyone care to comment ?

Did you make it out of steel or aluminum? I was thinkin of steel so I could weld it to my stub axle, or is just bolting it together ok ?

Ive heard of people making them out of aluminum with success but I needed to weld my steel ones cause I would stretch the bolts and break it.

That one is made from aluminum.  That one is for the left side.
The one for the right side will need to be made out of steel, so it can be welded to the modified stub shaft.
Here is a pic of the modified stub shaft with a steel flange for the right side.  The flange is just tacked in place in these pics....it will be fully welded later.
