Look at the center of the front wheel,
does it say Auto Locking Hubs or something
like that ?

or does it have a flat switch with the
word lock and free printed in it ?

If you have auto hubs you need to drive
backwards for 15-20 feet in 2WD to disengage
them, or if they are Manuals turn the flat switch
so it points to free

Get some manual hubs from the
wrecking yard, and replace those
Autos, this way you can control it
better, when you need/want them
