2 inch spacers. lop sided now
« on: May 22, 2007, 06:18:20 PM »
ok this is a bit weird but i put the 2 inch spacers in the rear i hace crown vic shocks and the are also spaced about a 1/4 inch now the springs are at full length but not loose wich is what i wanted the problem is that all measurement from frame to groung show 1/4 inch difference left to right and on the tire to wheel well therer is 3/4 inch difference. now these spacers were in BFM truck b4 and they were fine I took the back end apart again and there is nothing binding or stuck and it rides great but looks so lopsided is there anything else ?

John1974 had the same problem and i think he solved it with a rear a arm spacer and longer shocks...

Are you sure you have the lower spring ends in the pockets in the cups?

that was the first thing i checked for i even checked the upper bucket for rust and dirt but i did go out last night and drove it around and did some flexing and it is better now so i will drive it to work today and settle it in it is only like peter pointer finger difference now so i am ok with that.

Did you make sure that the ends of each coil catch the notch in the coil spacer?  If one spring is not properly set into the spacer notch, this could result in one side being up to an 1" higher than the other side.  I know the Boondox spacers have the notch in them, on the downward facing side of the spacer, but I don't know if the other brands of spacers are the same?  Rich

these are home made and i did make sure the lowest part of the spacer is where the and of the coil would be if you look in the picture titled spacers the way i positioned it is spacer then ruber isolater then coil making sure that coild was in original part of rubber and coild end is on thinest part of the spacer it is not too bad right now mayber 1/4 inch out side to side so i am not too worried now but will drive it and see if it settles or something like that
