thorley header on 1.6 problem
« on: June 03, 2008, 05:07:36 AM »
I recently moved my thorley header from an 8v 1.3 to a 1.6 8v. There is a little pipe on the tube closest to the fire wall that sends exhaust back into the engine for some reason. The little pipe dos not line up exactly with the hole in the 1.6 block and creates a little leak.  Has anyone ever experienced this and what did you do?  I am running a stock tracker gasket if it matters
If its not broken, break it

I have a 92 sidekick with the 1.6l 8v and the doug thorley header.  Guess what?  No tube.  I just double checked and mine is completely solid over where your little pipe is.  Mine runs great so you don't need that tube (for reference my header was bought from RRO this winter).  I saw the pics on trailtough that show your little tube and I am not sure why you have a different one.  I would probably just order a new gasket for the version without the tube and put that in.

That tube is part of the EGR system (see the other thread)
