T-case compatability?
« on: November 16, 2008, 10:55:31 PM »
I have the chance to pick up the motor, trans, t-case etc from a 96 Sport model with a 1.8, 4spd auto for a project 94 Kick I'm working on and I'm wondering if the t-case would interchange with the one I have from my 91? I want to run 4.24 gears in the case.
Thanks

The t-case should interchange just fine. There might be a difference in output shaft spline count for the rear driveline. But the gears should interchange just fine.

With that being a 96 tcase, the rear output shaft should have 16 splines on it versus the 26 splines found on 89-95 tcases.  Other than that they are the same (interchangeability wise) with each other.

Thanks Guys
I'm planning on using my older case with a Kicker 2 adapter and Toy case. I just wanted to be sure that the tranny output and case input would match up. Are the 4spd autos reliable like the 3spd autos are?
