4dr center console ideas

4dr center console ideas

I have a '92 4dr and the center console is falling apart slightly
it has the 2 power window switches and e-brake and a small compartment
I was thinking of a way to put a cup holder or something in place of the small compartment

Then I thought why not ask what others have done


Any mods to the center console or swaps?

Some models just have a cover that goes over the emergency brake.  If you don't mind loosing the power window controllers you could switch over.

Try one from a two wheel drive. Has dual cup holders you could add your power switches. 8)

It's just not 2wd ones.  The cupholder consoles (2 cupholders) can be found in 2wd, 4wd, 2 door, 4 door trackicks....some have the power window switches, others don't...but it isn't hard to cut the hole out to add them.

I found one at my local wrecking yard from a 4dr Sidekick Sport.  But I didn't get it because of the window switches (I would have to blank those off for my 2dr) and someone used long wood screws to mount it, which ended up putting 6 extra holes in it.  But I noticed that I couldn't mount it in my 2dr because it didn't have the brackets in the floorboard to mount it.  Anyone else notice that?

Yeah.  You have to get the brackets along with it.  The brackets will fit in trackicks that didn't originally have the big consoles in them.

Are they welded in place or is there a hole there that a bolt fits through?  I never looked into it, I just assumed it wouldn't fit

The brackets bolt to the top of the tranny tunnel.
